PP Secret Santa Angel and the Dark Prince

Finished a few models. As mentioned in a previous post I signed up for the Privateer Press Secret Santa. My assigned forum goer had asked for either an Una the Falconer or an Aurora. As Aurora is already an angel, that just begged to be done up for Christmas time.

And then I also finished up prime Butcher and prime Vladimir for my friend Fluffy Bunny. He's planning on playing Butcher in an event this weekend which means he left my place before I could get good pictures of him. I'll add that up when I get a chance with the light box set up. I didn't do any base work for the Khadoran models as that's up to FB to make sure all his models match. (And I don't have a supply of the flock he uses)

Project Stealth Airbrush

So, I live in an apartment with very thin walls. My compressor I use for airbrushing is a 1/2 horse Clarke setup designed for pneumatic tools. If I were to use this beast in the apartment when I'm home at night and want to airbrush, needless to say I would wake up everybody in the building.

So the thought became thus: pick up an air tank and regulator to hook up to the airbrush. Fill the tank up with the compressor either during the day or out in the garage, then just use the stored air for the projects until the pressure is too low.

So the regulator ended up being fairly long, and to get it to attach to the output from the tank itself I had to use a 6" nipple so you could tighten it onto the threads without banging the regulator into the tank itself. Then I added a quick release chuck so I can easily take the airbrush hose on/off. The airbrush hose is threaded onto the moisture trap which then has the other half of the quick release.

I was able to get the 5 gallon tank up to about 82 lbs of pressure using my compressor, and I ended up with the regulator at about 32lbs to get the primer to flow through the siphon feed brush. In hindsight I think this might have been a little high - I think my first tip was clogging and that's why I had the pressure higher to try and get it to flow, when I moved to a bigger tip I probably didn't need the pressure up so high. Even running that high though I still got almost 30 minutes of work done with the setup, priming an entire unit of spearmen, their shields and a handful of random parts that weren't assembled yet. Not perfect, but it's more than I would have gotten done in that amount of time trying to hand brush all of that work.

Privateer Press Secret Santa WIP

I signed up for the Secret Santa program on the Privateer Press forums.

As they need a w.i.p. before December, posting this up to link to their forums. Obviously not done with her yet, but the green stuffing is almost done.

Vlad in progress

Working on a model for a friend on commission. I think I like the red, but I'm not sure if I like the brass for the trim. Is it too shiney? Does he look too much like a Khorne supporter? Let me know.
